Lawdy, Lawdy, this lady crazy!!!

Hello friends,

For the first time in the history of this blog I promise to be brief.  I have just one story for you.

Know how I know my wife is 37 weeks pregnant?  The hormones seem to be a bit out of control.

We've got a couple bee hives outside of our front door.  This is obviously a problem since I'm allergic and the the thought of Rilyn getting stung is about the worst thing I can think of.

Anna however, can think of something much much worse.

I called the HOA who called the exterminator who came last night to rid us of these pests.  She came by, terminated the pests and left.

Due to the fact that our house is like the Sahara and we need to have fans going all night, on Ann'a command I made sure and asked the exterminator if it would be alright to open up the windows after she was done spraying.

She said yes, that would be fine and safe.

After the termination I could tell my lovely wife was bothered about something.  I could tell this because she asked me about 7 times if I was SURE it was ok to have the windows open.

I feel like I handled the interrogation well, that is, until she asked me the 8th time, and I basically said, "Women, you're driving me crazy with these questions" (this is obviously the PG rated version of what was said).

Anna's response (and I quote):

"Well if we are poisoned and die in our sleep Rilyn will be all alone in her crib until midnight tomorrow".

Also, she was balling.

See she had thought the entire scenario of our untimely deaths, to how long it would take family members to figure out our untimely deaths, all the way to how long it would take our family to break into our locked house and rescue Rilyn.

Lawdy this women must be full term pregnant!

4th of July Fun

Yesterday was a good day celebrating our nation's freedom with friends and neighbors.  We had a potluck breakfast with some of our neighbors on our shared lawn, and met a lot of people we haven't met before.

Rilyn sat at the kiddie table and enjoyed eating off of all the other kids' plates that they left behind to go and play.

We spent the afternoon at Kendall's, where we grilled and let Rilyn play with a few sparklers.  She wasn't the least be afraid and enjoyed them.

I was a little disappointed they cancelled our firework show here in Aurora because we can sit in our front lawn and see the fireworks, but hopefully next year Rilyn will get to watch some fireworks.

The best part of the 4th for me was Tyler having the last 5 days off!  It was so great having him home and spending some time together as a family of 3 before this next one arrives.

We hope everyone else enjoyed their 4th!!!

Trixie all dressed up

We immediately took the scarf off of Trixie because Rilyn thought it would be fun to pull her around the house by it.  Trixie was NOT amused.

Rilyn's first corn on the cob!  She tried stealing everyone else's and that is all she would pretty much eat.

Just another Decker update....

We have been super busy preparing for this baby, having fun with Rilyn, buying a house (yep finally got one), and just living life!

Rilyn is getting 2 more teeth and pretty miserable.  She has been pretty cranky in the afternoons and we realized today that she has 2 more poking through.  She napped for almost 4 hours today (2 separate naps) and when awake was pretty unhappy.  Poor thing that is 6 teeth in 1 month!

We had our 37 week appointment today, and everything looks good.  The baby's heart rate was 150, which is actually higher than Rilyn's was at this time so I'm thinking it's a girl :)  I was also GBS negative.  GBS is a type of bacteria that most people have at some point in their lives, and doesn't harm adults; however, if a woman is positive when she delivers it can pass to the baby and cause an infection in the newborn.  I was positive with Rilyn and only had 1 dose of the recommended 2 because we waited too long to get to the birth center.  She was fine obviously but super pumped we don't have to worry about it this time around.  Yea for a daily probiotic!

We finally found and had an offer accepted on a house.  It is in Larkspur, which is about 40 miles south of Denver.  It's on almost a half an acre and is on a dead end road, which backs up to private property so on one side and out front it's just forest.  Driving up there last week we actually saw a brown bear in our neighbor's yard!  The house needs a lot of work to make it our own, but has a lot of potential and we are excited to live in a town with a population of just around 200 and have some space to call our own!

Other than that not much has been going on!  Here are some pictures of cute little Rilyn...just because :)

Hanging with her friend Payton at the Children's Museum

Yep...she made that mess in less than 3 minutes!

Summer Heat

Apparently it was 102 degrees here today in Aurora, the 4th day in a row we've broken the record for heat. I like to think "no biggie it's summer - that's what's supposed to happen" BUT it is only June for crying out loud!  And honestly I think I'm dealing with it pretty well because lucky for me heat just doesn't bother me, but being 9 months pregnant I don't really have a choice but to HATE this weather.

Oh and we have no air conditioning or I wouldn't complain for one second.  At 11AM today it was already 85 degrees in our house.  Right now, at 8:20 PM it is 90 in our house!!

My husband is always hot and this weather is definitely harder on him, but he is AMAZING at coming up with new ways to control fans and so he rigged up some new fan contraptions this afternoon. so we will see what happens tomorrow.

Either way, Rilyn and I are staying cool in the pool and sprinklers and tomorrow may be going to the mall just for some air conditioning!

I like to take pictures of her behind the knee rolls because I know someday they we will be gone and I will be sad!

Not super pumped about the freezing cold water of our community pool

Oh and the dogs also hate the heat!  They are very unhappy.  Porter and Zoe are still a little mad we had their teeth cleaned last week.  Zoe took 2 days to recover and Rilyn thought she needed to comfort her as much as possible.  Trixie just liked the extra treats...

35 Weeks and 17 Months....

Today I am 35 weeks pregnant and Rilyn is 17 months old!

I think the biggest change with Rilyn is her annunciation with words has become very clear.  She has been imitating what we say for awhile, but just in the last couple of weeks I really have noticed how much clearer her language is.
She officially has 4 more teeth, but a couple are still trying to poke through.  It's so weird seeing molars in her little mouth.
She is also starting to go through a little phases where she wants me to hold her constantly.  She has never been a baby that likes to be held and doesn't sit still long enough to cuddle but lately she wants me to hold her all the time and will just sit on the couch with me and snuggle.  I'm not sure what's bringing this on since I am home now and spend all my time with her but maybe that's it.  Also, so not good timing for this to happen with the baby coming in a month and all!
She is still super social and, on her own terms, likes to say hi and bye to everyone she meets numerous times.
She is tons of fun as usual and I love watching her do new things every day!

At 35 weeks I am feeling...PREGNANT!  Which I guess is a good thing :)  I'm getting bigger by the second which I did with Rilyn at this time also.  I have gained 15 1/2 lbs and am starting to get a little more uncomfortable.  I am having a really hard time sleeping at night and I am typically can sleep until about 1:00 but then I am up.
The baby is head down still and we are super pumped about that since it was presenting breech a couple of weeks ago.  The heart rate was 140 yesterday and he/she is moving all over the place!
We are getting more and more excited and realized we probably should start preparing since we haven't done anything to get ready for this munchkin yet!

Another Recap....

It seems like these days all I have time for are short recaps.  Life is so busy and blog worthy, but that leaves me little time to actually blog.  I figured I would have more time once work was finished, but so far that has not happened.  Rilyn, life, and being 8 1/2 months pregnant seems to keep me moving!

So here's what is happening around the Decker household:

1)  We are house hunting and thought we found the perfect house, but sadly we found out yesterday we were out-bid (and not even given the chance to put another offer on the house) which puts us back to square one. It's a bummer, but I just have to believe it really wasn't the perfect house for us.  Although that is really hard when there was a rooster roaming the backyard and a horse in the pasture when we visited.

2)  We were in Montana last weekend celebrating my mom's 50th birthday!  My sister and I planned (very quickly) a party because we had to wait and see what was happening with MaKenna before we could make any plans.  We were so blessed to have my grandmothers and Aunt Jenn help (really do everything) because without them the party would have been a flop.  They did everything!  And I can't forget to mention my sister's brother-in-law who created our rustic frames that I saw pictured on Pinterest.  He just looked at a picture and threw them together.  Thank you Dustin!!!

Happy Birthday mom we were so lucky to get to celebrate with you and LOVED seeing you guys!

I was very sad to realize I took very few pictures, but o'well I can't always carry a 16 month old and a camera I guess.

Love the frame and can't wait to hang one in our house

Easy, cheap, and simple decorating

Loving the marshmallow dip

Ya, my grandmothers and aunt made all of the food!  Seriously they can cook for a crowd!

Jenn made the cake..and it was awesome!!

3) While we were in Montana, Tyler and I went to the mountains for a night alone.  Let's be honest - it's not that romantic when I'm so huge and pregnant and pretty much popping Tums every other hour, using the bathroom every 15 minutes, and asleep by 9, but it was fun to just get away and we know my parents LOVED having Rilyn to themselves overnight.

4) Rilyn is fun and amazing and I am LOVING being home with her right now.  She tests me every other second and I would be lying if I said it was all easy and we are having fun every second, but in those bad moments I just try to breathe and take it minute by minute.  Being home is hard and it puts a lot of pressure on me to be the "perfect wife and mom."  I really struggled with this last summer and am working through it this time around.  Keeping everything in balance is really hard and something I am still learning to do.

Rilyn discovered the joy of Sonic's happy hour:

She is also getting 4 molars and dealing with it really well.  She is just a little fussier than normal and wants to cuddle a lot more than usual - with everything and everyone!
She is wearing daddy's socks...she loves to dress herself

Oh and her and the sidewalk had a fight while in Montana and the sidewalk definitely won!

5) APPOINTMENTS - Right now our life is full of appointments and we are feeling overwhelmed with this unusual schedule for us.  This week we start going to the birth center every week for appointments, Rilyn has some appointments scheduled, the dogs have appointments scheduled, I am seeing a chiropractor so scheduling those appointments...yada yada yada!

So, that seems to be what is happening over here...I hope we get to do more "fun" summer stuff like play in the sprinklers with diapers on....

Sprinkler Fun

Tyler and I thought it would be fun (because we are cruel parents) to put Rilyn in the middle of the sprinklers and make her fend for herself.  Of course it backfired because it turns out she LOVES the sprinklers and now we probably will have to drag her out of them every evening.
