4th of July 2013

Lots of celebrating here at the Decker house this year!  We hosted a small BBQ with our parents, GiGi, Megan and Clint, and Megan's parents.  The kids had lots of fun with both sets of grandparents, their new swing set, and way too many sweets.

Rilyn and I had some pre-party nail painting the night before.  This was the first time she had her nails painted and wasn't too sure about it.  She HATES having her fingernails cut or even really touched.  But towards the end she started to enjoy it more and I'm sure she will be asking to have them painted again soon.

Here are some pictures of all the fun that we had....

Chicken Coop and Chicken Update

The chickens are growing up fast and are no longer cute little chicks.  I seriously wish they would have stayed teeny tiny forever!

Last week we finished the coop and really like the outcome.  It seems to be sturdy, comfortable, and hopefully predator proof (we had a bear checking them out earlier today....yikes).

Right now the chicks are in the coop and attached run pretty much all the time.  I've been letting them out to free range most evenings and they are starting to expect that.  They start getting pretty loud around 7:30.  We plan to build a mobile run to put them in during the day in which they can do some more foraging and ranging.

They are a lot of fun to watch.  Rilyn's favorite part is giving them treats so they probably get more people food than they should at this point.

Can't wait to start getting some eggs in about 14 weeks!

4th Anniversary

A couple of weeks ago Tyler and I were able to get away to celebrate our 4th anniversary.  We decided to spend 2 nights in Salida, and spend some time jeepin, something we don't get to do very often anymore.  We are pretty lucky to have Tyler's parents who take the kids whenever we want or need them too!!!

It was the longest I was away from either kid and it was such a nice time away with just Tyler.  It was a beautiful drive down and we stopped at a Mexican restaurant that we stopped at when we got engaged and the weather was perfect.

We really just relaxed and made no real plans.  A luxury that doesn't happen with kids.

We jeeped up the old Monarch pass and it was probably one of the best views I've ever seen.  We've seen some pretty places but for some reason this view was really just amazing!  We also went to a little ghost town and spent some time walking around.

It was such a great time to reconnect!

Father's Day 2013

This year for Father's Day we ended up celebrating twice with the Decker family.  On Father's Day we had a last minute BBQ with Tyler's parents and brother, Clint.  It was just a low-key evening and I think Tyler appreciated that!

Last Sunday we were able to plan a picnic with everyone so we all got together and enjoyed a day in the mountains.  The kids had a great time in the jeep and playing in the dirt.
