Saturday Snapshots - Take Four

Lots of jumping has been happening on the kids new jumpoline (that's what Rilyn calls it and therefore also Ryder calls the trampoline).  It was an early Christmas present from Grandma and Grandpa Decker and what a great one it is!

We also did some pinecone collecting for our fall decorations

We also went to the zoo one day this week.  Sawyer was really interested in the animals this time so that was a lot of fun.

Loving her long pigtails!

Ryder kept telling me he wanted to see the lions and we were in luck because the lions were up close this trip.  So up close that Ryder decided he didn't want to see the lions and he said, "I don't like animals, they are scary."  Ha, lots of things are scary to him right now.

In addition to this pretty lady, the male lion was outside and close to the fence so we go to watch him pestering the other lioness.

There is also an orangutan that is due to have her baby at any moment.  We watched this soon to be mama for awhile and it was so cool watching her and knowing she was close to being in labor.  The zookeeper said that she will probably nurse this baby for six years!  I can't wait to go back and see this new baby.  I'm pretty sure a baby orangutan might be about the cutest thing on this planet!

First Foods

Sawyer has been acting ready (really ready) for some "real" food for the last couple of weeks.  I've been trying to ignore him because I had no intentions of giving him solid food until he was at least 6 months.  However, it's really hard to ignore a cute little boy practically begging for food!  I know he is not hungry but he really wants to be part of our meals and lately whenever we eat he starts to cry and reach for food on our plates.

So, I gave in a little this week and started giving him something to at least explore and taste.  I have no plans to feed him at every meal and since dinner seems to be the time of day he really gets upset we have started with some veggies and he LOVES it.

So far Sawyer has had red bell pepper, green bell pepper, and cucumber.  I think he likes the cucumber the best because he can get something off of it without teeth.

Hopefully some veggies will hold him over for awhile....I'm so not ready for him to be eating yet nor am I ready to deal with solid food diapers....no solid foods means easy to clean cloth diapers.  But, I think with two older siblings he is always going to be doing things earlier than I want.

Cookies, Camping, and Mustaches

Last weekend we went to a birthday party that was a "Little Man" theme, which meant mustaches everywhere.  So, of course we had to try some on...

Tyler took this week off and we enjoyed a mid-week camping trip with just the five of us.  It was easier and harder at the same time than our last trip.  Things that made it easier....no problems finding the spot, great weather, we brought a table for the kids to eat on, and we had a much bigger tent.  But, with all of that it was still a little harder because we had no extra hands!

Camping in the fall probably won't happen tons in Colorado, but I'm sure glad we've been able to this year.  It is so pretty in the mountains and we really enjoyed the scenery.

The kids love climbing all the boulders in the area.

Also, Rilyn got to make cookies with Aunt Carly last weekend and she had a blast.  Especially when Aunt Carly let her have free range with the sprinkles.

A little Wrap-up from the Last Couple of Weeks

Sometimes Spiderman needs to take a break from saving people to use a real super power...nurse his baby.

Our children are obsessed with capes right now and will use anything in the house to create capes.

This boy is all smiles these days.

Rilyn and Ryder were doing their bible studies the other day...I'm just glad Rilyn remembered her coffee.

Ryder is ALWAYS practicing his dancing skills...

I love getting some boy time while Rilyn is hanging with Grandma.

I also pretty much held a miniature Tyler and miniature Jason the other day.  The both look so much like their dads!

We have a busy weekend planned, but it is busy with friends and family so that is always good.  So, I'm sure we will be updating soon!
