Weekend Recap

This weekend we tried to stay busy, yet spend a little time at home relaxing.  The busy part was easily accomplished...the relaxing part...not so much.

Rilyn has to be one of the busiest kids I have ever met.  On Saturday we went to swim lessons (where she practiced her front and back floats) and went to the Children's Museum.  That's a pretty busy day...we got home and she was still go go go.  She seems impossible to wear out, but did sleep from 7:00 PM until 6:30 AM so that was awesome!

On Sunday we went grocery shopping, baked some muffins, and had dinner with friends.  She was pretty fussy that evening and I'm guessing she is getting some molars as she was fussy again tonight.  Not at all looking forward to more teeth, but I guess that's part of parenting!
Rilyn also enjoyed practicing her front float in the bathtub....what a cute little bottom she has!

13 Months Old

Rilyn turned 13 months old on Wednesday!  She is moving faster, talking and signing like crazy, and able to understand tons of directions and things we say.

It's pretty cool now that we can tell her to do something or mention something and she will do it.
Her favorite things for us to say right now:
"Rilyn do you want to eat?" - She goes to her highchair
"I love you" - She opens up her mouth for a mouth kiss
"Let's go take a bath" - She starts climbing upstairs
"Let's go bye bye" - She tries to put her shoes and/or coat on

It can also be a challenge to figure out what she wants sometimes, and she is getting good at going to a particular spot and pointing to it too help us figure it out. This morning she was patting her mouth and it sounded like she was saying more but she signs more and didn't have anything to get more of.  This afternoon she did the same thing, but went to the kitchen were we keep her cup of water and did the same thing while pointing at her cup.  So, I guess that is her made up sign for drink.  We've been working on that one and it is a little harder than some others for kids.

She also was standing by her playpen a day ago and saying "no" (I thought).  When I looked over her hand was up to her ear and it was clear she was saying "phone" she had put it in her playpen 2 days before and remembered it was there.

She likes to babble and is very serious when she is talking to you.  You better be listening!

She loves to do laundry with me, and will put all the clothes in the dryer and also pull all the clothes out of the basket.

This last weekend we went to Ryan and Carly's for a craft/man work day.  The boys worked while the women do crafty stuff.  Carly posted about it on her blog so check it out....and enjoy some pics I took from the day.  Oh and they invited Porter and Zoe over for a playdate with Harpo.  They had so much fun and it was very nice of them to let our 2 muddy dogs run all over their house and we really appreciated it!

1st Swim Lessons

This morning we went to Rilyn's first swim lessons.  The good news is she can now swim all by herself and I don't have to get in the pool...ya right...but I wish :)

The class was pretty silly we just sang two songs and then the kids got to "swim" with their parents, so really I could just take her to the pool and not pay for swim lessons, but this will get us there more consistently so this summer she (hopefully) enjoys the pool.

She didn't hate the water, but she also didn't love it.  She is kind of a wimp (like her mama) when it comes to cold water so she shivered the whole time and tried to cuddle.  She really started liking it towards the end though and REALLY loved watching the other kids.

My favorite part was her cloth swim diaper!  We hadn't used it yet, and it worked perfect.  I think I spent like $7.00 bucks on it and we can use it over and over.  A pack of swim diapers is like $12.00 and I would imagine going through those like crazy in the summer so I'm pretty pumped about saving some money (for more stupid swim lessons) with our cloth swim diaper.  Plus, it is pretty darn cute.

Can't wait for next week!

Life....

I have no real title for this post because really it is just about life.  Not much has been going on around here just...well...living life.

Rilyn is walking/running everywhere and has been for a little over a week.  She has been able to walk for awhile but didn't choose to walk over crawling and now that has changed.  She definitely chooses walking over crawling. It's been fun to get outside a little more and it's been nice to have her walk and give my back a little break.  Especially since I lift kids at work all day long and they are not by any means little.

She is also talking and signing tons more every day.  Her new favorite is more and "uh oh."  Of course today as we were shopping she was throwing things out of the cart saying "uh oh" before she even dropped them.

Rilyn also got a few fun toys at Ikea the other day.  We really need to stop shopping there because we spend way to much money every time.  Rilyn got a little kid table, some veggie friends, and a step stool so hopefully soon she can start helping daddy cook!

We are planning on taking Rilyn to her first swim lesson tomorrow and I am very excited to see if she enjoys it or not.  Of course getting into my maternity swim suit is not fun and I'm not looking forward to putting it on or getting in a pool at 8:00 AM tomorrow morning.  I'm sure there will be a post soon!
